Melissa is an accredited professional coach, certified through the Coaches Training Institute and recognized by the International Coach Federation, and has been coaching formally since January 2008. Additionally, she is an authorized facilitator of the Team Diagnostic Assessment, certified by Team Coaching International. Melissa’s passions include working with independent businesses and business owners, as well as with leaders and teams.
Her desire is to help create the paradigm shift from hierarchy to harmony. Believing that emotional intelligence is the underpinning of success, she works with individuals to learn and enhance the skills most advantageous for their people, and themselves. She does this by combining her dynamic coaching style with the latest in neuroscience research, positive psychology, and appreciative inquiry. The goal is to foster the understanding that high levels of positivity – personally, in leaders, within teams, as well as in the workplace – maximize performance and productivity and have a ripple effect to all areas of life.
Prior to becoming a coach, Melissa’s work history incorporated a number of professional opportunities, ranging from the corporate world of advertising, to the creative arena of the entertainment industry. For many years, she was in media planning, providing thorough media analysis and allocating multi-million dollar budgets for clients like Princess Cruises, Suzuki, Westin Hotels, and Chevrolet. Her innate understanding of human behavior and the art of collaboration allowed her to hone exceptional skills as a rate negotiator consistently netting significant savings for her clients.
More recently, Melissa worked in the competitive Los Angeles entertainment industry as a digital designer for clients like Disney, Touchstone, Miramax, CBS, and Universal Pictures, allowing her creativity to flourish.
It was working in these often challenging environments that ignited her passion for creating a paradigm shift in the way “things are done” in the workplace, thus sparking her desire to become a coach and consultant.
Now calling Denver, Colorado, home, Melissa actively travels the country as a speaker and delivering workshops in the areas of leadership, team development, and resiliency.
Melissa holds bachelor degrees in psychology and sociology, and an associate arts degree in Photography and is currently working on her master’s degree in the Neuroscience of Leadership. Melissa’s desire is to bring her learning from the Neuroscience of Leadership program beyond the corner office to leaders from all walks of life.
Melissa has volunteered in multiple organizations including various crisis hotlines, the National Runaway Switchboard, battered women’s shelters, community grass-roots projects, as well as with individual families of children with special needs.
